Title: How to Increase Income/Salary
Post by: Kiwi Mustache on May 24, 2015, 08:06:07 PM
I've looked all I can and made changes to reducing expenses within reason.

However, I'm only 26 and earn $53k gross per year (around $41k take home). This is NZD.

My expenses won't go up if I earn more income so how do I go about increasing my income from my salary? I don't feel doing any extra tertiary study would help. Do I need to hop around jobs looking for pay rises?

How do you go about it? Looking at all possibilities apart from starting a side business because I have no interest in doing so.

I'm in the logistics/distribution industry.

With the constraint of no side business, you can either
  a) find someone (other employer) to pay you more for what you do now, or
  b) find something to do that someone (either current or other employer) will pay more for.

Path "a" typically involves job hopping.

Path "b" typically involves developing higher levels of technical expertise, or going into management.

What path appeals most to you?
