Hello folks! I think I'm at a point where I can comfortably semi-retire, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I'm sure there are others in the forum who might be facing similar situations.
I've had an online business for many years in the buying and selling of goods. (The types of goods have changed over the years, -- estate merchandise, used books, imported consumer electronics, event tickets) -- Never at significant scale. At this point, after a little over 10 years of doing this kind of work, I have about $275k accumulated (MY earnings have been great at times, but I haven't always been a mustachian, and spent rather a lot up until about 5 years ago). I earn about $100k / yr at present, but find the work very uninspiring and draining at this point.
I'm in my early 30s, and pretty comfortable after using firecalc that if I could find something to do for 12 years or so to meet current expenses ($26k / yr or so for myself as a single person -- largely because I am picking up some expensive hobbies such as metalworking and robotics), the compounding of my stache would do the heavy lifting for me and carry me through old age. I have no desire to continue in the type of work I've been doing, and would love to wind down my business -- but would like to figure out how I can apply the unorthodox experience and skillset that I have to something that will make $30k or so with the minimum amount of time invested. I do have a BS in accounting and finance, though I've never worked a day in my life for someone other than myself.
How have other people already in semi-retirement approached similar situations? Thanks in advance for any advice :-)
