Opened Roth IRA on cusp of tax deadline.

We opened a Roth IRA through Vanguard. We selected it to go towards 2014. However, they haven't verified our bank account yet. Are we out of luck?

If you write a check dated today and get it postmarked today (not as easy as it used to be - see http://www.gobankingrates.com/personal-finance/guide-tax-day-post-office-hours-last-minute-filers/) then it would count for 2014.  Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I didn't know about this. It's too late to go this route though. Dang.

According to Vanguard's site under contributions it shows our account under 2014. If we pretend to make a purchase it will only let us less that amount.

I believe submitting you request for the EFT transfer is kinda like dating the check and postmarking... I did mine on the 14th and was invested on the 15th.

I don't think vanguard will let you contribute if it wont hit in time... Only exception being if the EFT bounces I assume?
