"Paid" for 25 hours oer week.
Earn $78k.
12 weeks holiday per year.

But normally do 40hrs per week. No plans on climbing the ladder.

High school math teacher here.  Generally work from 7am-4:30pm M-F and then an additional 10-12 private tutoring appointments most weeks, so about 55-60 hours during the school year.  Aside from families who request tutoring, I pretty much take the entire summer off.

Nominally, 30-36 hours a week. In reality, there have been few weeks recently where I've worked less than 48 hours. This is without proper breaks in the working day. There isn't scope for me to reduce my hours at present while staying in the job, and I'm on to the task of trying to recruit someone who could do some of my work now and eventually replace me but having no success so far.

I do get limited financial reward for the additional hours.

My ideal workload would be 18-24 hours, and no more than 8 hours a day.

I've worked longer hours and unsociable shifts in the past. It's built into the culture of my occupation. Glad? No. I'm glad my children all looked at my life and said, "Nope, not going there."

Normally I work around 40, but lately it's been more like 50-60hr weekly. It's hard work, but it pays the bills and beefs me up.

At the moment it's a 9-5, so 35 a week, two days a week from home - I like it a lot.

Previous job was obligatory 9 hour days in the office, which got really draining after a while...

I work about 55-60 hours a week between my main job and side hustle. It can be a little exhausting since I also do all the cooking, cleaning, yardwork, etc. at home. No more hiring people to do chores and repairs. Saves us a lot of money for the 'stache.

Generally 35-45 in the warmer months and 50+ in the colder months, used to be more. I'm glad to have that flexibility. Unfortunately I live in a place where water freezes in the winter. I hate the cold and can't do any of the things I truly enjoy in the winter, but want to maximize free time and flexibility in the summer. I've been salary for a while but back when I was hourly it was nice getting the overtime particularly on some of those 100+ hour weeks. I believe putting in the hard work and long hours has benefited me financially. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't paid well enough and particularly not if I didn't have flexibility when there's no emergency or pressing deadline.

On a non-travel week, between 40-50 hours/week. I manage a team in London & a team in Tokyo, so off hour calls to accommodate are the biggest outliers.

But, for travel weeks - I often leave on a weekend & return the following weekend. If you calculate the travel time + office time + required work social events. . . maybe 90+ hours in a week? Traveling to & from Singapore burns up an entire 40 hours, so the rest of the week would be on top of that.

The above is why I'm working so hard to quit. :-)

I used to average 55/week when I was in my 20s through 30 while building my career.   In my field, it took me about seven years before I could really start working more efficiently.  The game just comes to me faster now and it doesn't require the same amount of time to complete the same amount of work.

I viewed it like a medical degree, I'm going to work an insane amount of time in my first four years after undergrad plus a couple years in my residency/internship, then it would work out.  Low and behold, I am in a business field and make a physician/specialist salary while saving a bunch along the way.

Im at work about 44 hours a week.

I think it would be a stretch to say I spend any more then 6 hours actually working.

So ..... bored.......

I used to work around 70 but in January changed jobs and created some major boundaries.  Not doing that shit again.  I now work 40-45.  However, I do have a side business where I work another 10hrs but I really enjoy it and don't consider it work.

Worked 50-60 hours a week in my 20s, 40-50 hours a week in my 30s and 35-45 hours per week in my 40s so far (two years in).

Pretty much the same for me. Early in my career I worked for consulting companies. At my first one I was expected to work at least 50 hours and usually worked 60. At my second job I was told I should be billing at least 5% OT to show I am working hard enough. I've since moved in-house and work about 35 hours these days (I'm in my early 40s).

Did I benefit from it? Hell yea! Promotions, pay raises, being poached by ex-colleagues/ex-clients/etc. Mind you, it wasn't just my work ethic that got me those things - I was also doing high-end cool stuff.

That sounds like a good gig, no need to retire early from that. What do you do?

When I ran the numbers, I determined I was making something like $350 per actual hour of work.  Take that, lawyers ;).

Pretty standard 40 hour week.  I'm in my office / on campus basically from 8-5 all week.  I almost always take a full hour (or a bit more) for lunch - I like to go for a short swim as part of it.  And I do a lot of non-work stuff at my desk - plan vacations, read articles, investment / purchase research, schedule appointments, etc.

Many of my peers work MANY more hours than that (60-70+), between work dinners, weekend events, travel, 24/7 phone & email, etc.  I've always been firm in my work life balance, though, and I haven't had trouble getting promotions.  At the same time, though, I don't think I could go any higher without sacrificing my work life balance (hence I don't apply for those jobs).

32 hours a week now and highly recommend it to anybody that can swing it. Started this year and it's had a huge impact on my happiness levels. Technically still a full time employee with full benefits as long as it's 32+, but paid for hours worked (and paid for hours if I go over 40, too).

I do this too and it is really nice.  Currently I have Mondays off.  My employer calls it Quasi Full Time.  I don't have the option to get paid for additional hours worked, but can go back to a 40 hour schedule if I or my employer want to.

How many hours do I work or how many hours am I at work?

Now that is the question. I'm usually at work 50+ hours a week but truly probably only needed about 30 of those. The rest of the time I'm there because I need to be. There are weeks that I work 60-70 because I'm covering for another manager and those weeks it's still the same.

For my main job, this time of year about 15 hrs/wk. During the busy season, that can go up to 40 hrs/wk. I'm self employed; my priority is time efficiency.

Side gigs anywhere from one hr/wk to 10+ hrs/wk.

When I was working, 55 hrs, now that I say I'm not working, 1-10 hour day and 1- 4 to 5 hr day, plus another 15 minutes 7 days a week.
My wife is easily working 70 hours a week, can't get her to stop, not really her plan, but all she's doing is making an inheritance for the kids. I think the kids are fully capable of taking care of themselves. And they are.

Officially, I work (and I'm paid) for 37.5 hours / week.

Most weeks, I'm at the office for 40 hours. Of those 40 hours, I normally do real/efficient work for between 20 and 25 hours as I do a lot of non-work related stuff at my desk (personal finance planification, investments, reading, schedule appointments, etc).

As a new employee trying to make his mark, I've also worked more than 40 hours/week (while being paid 37.5) on several occasions when important deadlines are approaching. While working for free (or for a lower hourly wage depending on how you see it), I consider it had a positive impact on my colleagues and manager perception of my work.

I like my current low responsability/low stress position and I'd like to keep it. But I'd also like to increase my income so I plan on working a little more in order to bump my salary to 40-45 hours / week (between 6.6% and 26% increase with same responsabilities). Hopefully my manager approves it.

I'm an engineer and normally at work for 40 hours a week but occasionally we will be on mandatory OT, which we are paid for (straight time). When I do work OT its 50 hours/week max. In very rare cases I've done 70 hours/week. Typically I'm working 80% of time I'm at work.

I make more than the OP, but in my field its the managers that make more, however they also work longer hours and are not always compensated for their OT. I'm perfectly fine sticking to a more technical route and dealing with less stress and being paid for OT.

I work fulltime, which is 35 hours a week at my company. Overtime isn't compensated in time or money. Used to do 70-80 hour weeks but damn near got burned out... now I'm sticking to 40 hours (because I hate to be 'that person' that leaves as soon as the clock strikes 5).

7 weeks vacation time.
