rangehood brand recommendations

Hey,

I'm going to be adding a vent over my stove and will need to buy a rangehood to go with it. currently there is a cheapo recirculating one.

I've never bought one before so I'm not sure which brands are good.

relevant information about our uses. my wife and MIL are asian and do a lot of boiling soups and wok frying. so something fairly powerful would be good. and I'd rather actual switches for operation instead of buttons but it's not a deal breaker. Also quiet would be good but it's not an open concept kitchen so it won't be a big problem either way.

My in-laws have good luck with their Vent-a-Hood brand hood, which has switches rather than buttons, that don't get gummed up. You definitely want a hood and not a combo microwave one, and other than that I would look for something with as much CFM as you can afford, and that extend to the edge of the range. I've been stuck with a combo microwave one, and it doesn't extract much air when using the front burners. Note that if I were you, I'd buy whatever was the best I could find on Craigslist, or you could also make your own with a powerful fan and some plywood, if your cabinetry is painted, or sheet metal bent over a 1/4" ply framed scoop.

My range hood is a GE, and I ordered it from Lowe's last year when we remodeled.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-Convertible-Wall-Mounted-Range-Hood-Stainless-Steel-Common-30-in-Actual-30-in/50436742

It came in the color I wanted, and it was a good price. It has different lengths of duct stuff to make it fit your space.

It's pretty strong - the first time I turned it on was a surprise. LOL
