Best Prepaid phone for 3 week trip to the UK?

Anyone know of a reputable prepaid phone for use in the UK? Our current carrier is very expensive when used overseas. They recommended buying a cheap phone and plan once we get there. We will be traveling through London, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

What services do you intend to use? Phone calls? SMS? Data? The recommendation will likely vary depending on your needs.
You may not need to buy a phone - just a SIM card. That depends on whether your current phone is unlocked and can accept a SIM card from another carrier.

Also keep in mind Ireland is not part of the UK, so you may want to ensure that whatever provider you select offers free roaming in Ireland.

Similar to above posts, what services do you need? I've been overseas recently without any cell service. Wifi has worked great, airports have free internet for accessing apps for rides or directions. Enjoy your trip!
