Humidity also plays a role in the maximum temperature I consider tolerable.  When room temperature reaches around 80, it starts to get a little uncomfortable..  I'll wear shorts and turn on the fan.  Only if it still feels unreasonable in less clothing + the fan then do I turn on the AC.  This usually works out to a temperature of about 80-85 (27-30 Celsius.)  I usually can't tolerate a room temperature over 85 regardless of humidity or the use of a fan.

I have cats and will keep the thermostat at 85 when people are not in the house (I hear cats can tolerate higher temperatures fine compared to people.)

Cooler than normal summer so far, but we've gotten up to 88F in the house with high humidity and not needed the AC.
