Depending on where you live, you may be able to find some quality used equipment warehouses. Show Me Weights near St Louis has some great prices on used oly plates. But, you're already seeing $.70 / pound on CL, which is a pretty decent deal. The kind of plates MMM picked up will chip and shatter pretty quickly. Pay a little more for decent cast iron and you're set for life.

70 cents a pound is about what the going rate seems to be for weights.  You can sometimes find lower prices when people are selling weights plus a bunch of other crap . . . but then you have to go through the hassle of storing and eventually selling off all the other stuff that you didn't really want to make it worth your while.

Yeah, I watch the used plates go by on Craigslist, and in my neck of the woods 70c per pound is a better deal than I usually see.

I haven't seen quite that nice of a deal.

This is almost as much as CraigsList - just 255 lbs + bar (45 lbs) for $200, so $0.66/lb ($0.78/lb if you don't count the low quality bar.)

I went with it several years ago (when it was $175), because I really like the handles on the plates. Good luck and share if you find a better deal!

This *might* qualify for the 25% cyber monday coupon. $150 for 255 lbs = $0.59 / lb.

I recently came across the best home gym setup I had ever seen: a pair of gymnastic rings hanging from ceiling in the middle of the living room.

How much were you able to increase your deadlift using that setup?

Ok, I get your point. I should modify my original post to "the best minimalistic, mustachian home gym setup".

Having said that, there are plenty of bodyweight exercises one can do for leg strength, such as pistol squat, backflip. For back strength, front lever, back lever, muscle up. Keep in mind, gymnast has lots of leg strength as well.
