Title: help with investing
Post by: Krokill on February 23, 2014, 08:14:11 PM
hello all.  just joined. i am an investing newbie.  not sure where to invest my money. on a scale of 1-10 (1=conservative, 10=aggressive), I would say im about a 4.

i'm sure there are previous threads - if one can guide me that would be great!

i was thinking of putting about 30% into a S&P 500 index and 50% into US gov treasury bonds. a conservative friend said just do CDs.

it seems i can do the above myself to avoid a middleman cut (is this stupid to try?)

thx everybody!

This probably belongs in investor alley.

Better than asking what to invest in, ask what books and resources are best to educate yourself.

Investing is like flying a plane; you need a solid education in order to keep yourself out of trouble, not some one-off pointers from people on the internet.

What KingCoin said.

Read these. Once you understand the basics, you'll be better prepared to figure out what works best for you. Cause random strangers on the internet or buddies in real life are always going to have opinions, but you should understand why we all would tell you one thing or another and weigh what works best for you.

You might like the permanent portfolio, if you are leaning towards the conservative side.
