How long to keep paperwork - especially house sales papers?
« on: March 29, 2021, 11:51:24 AM »
Sold 2 houses (both bought mortgage free as primary residences) and would like to unload the paperwork from both. One was sold in 2009 and the other I bought in 2009 and sold in 2012. What, if anything, do I need to hang onto and for how much longer?

Also what about simple taxes and the sort? I've basicly have a low taxable passive income and pay no taxes so just keep for 5 years.

Rule of thumb for tax documents is seven years. The default statute of limitations on most non-UCC breach of contract cases in most jurisdictions is six years.

I say time to dump on both.
