Dumb or Wise: Drive down to Buffalo, NY to pick up bike

Hello forum,  I'm looking to buy this folding bike http://shop.dahonbikes.com/p/boardwalk-s1 but it isn't available here in Ontario. The other alternative is to buy it in the USA, have it shipped to the Buffalo NY store for pickup, drive down to the store, pay 30% taxes over the border, and drive back.

The total cost for the drive from Etobicoke will be around 35$ in my Corolla including 6$ border crossing fee.
Tax is around 93$ (for less than 24 hours stay in the USA).
Bike price is around 340$ after NY sales tax of ~8.8%.
(all prices in CAD)
for a total of 465$

Ofcourse there are other Dahon bikes available here in Ontario but I have my mind on this one for it's simplicity (single speed) and affordability (comes with rack and fenders).

Is this a bad idea? Am I missing other costs or variables?

Do you know anyone in the USA?

To keep it legal I think as long as you own the item for more than 6months its considered your personal property??.. I.e have someone buy it.. keep it for 6 months then avoid the tax when you go to collect it.

Of course if someone was less than honest one could throw away the packaging and just throw it in the boot of your car and um.. forget to tell them you just bought it. I would never do this of course but I bet people have I would think.
