I've spent a good amount of time googling this morning, and have not been able to find what I'm looking for!

A few years back, I read an essay/story called something like "Living the American Dream" --  written by someone who was a "lost employee" in the org-chart at some remote office at work. He wrote up about how he was trying to keep his job, even though he had no official duties and didn't report to anyone.

If memory serves me correctly, in part of the story, he randomly received a bunch of "globes" delivered to him...

Anyone recall this or have a link?

Ahhhh, no sooner did I post this, than I remembered the key phrase "forgotten employee" and was able to find it when googling...

I loved that article.  Thanks for sharing!

I too feel like I'm Mr. Moonshine lately.  Should I ask for more responsibility?  Probably.

When people ask me, "What have they got you working on?" or "What are you doing in your new position?" I typically respond with "Nothing at all."  Which is 95% accurate, but they laugh and think I'm funny.

Speaking of which, I'm going to talk to my boss to see if I can get something else to work on, or get that open position I asked him about Friday.  I can't browse MMM forums all day!

Thanks!

I now have a meeting with my boss and the President tomorrow morning to discuss the open position.  It's very similar to 2 other positions I've interviewed for with our competitors recently.  So, if I can get the same job and similar pay to stay with the same company, that's not a bad deal!  Should be ~$20k pay increase...
