I use Geico for my car insurance, and currently they do not offer umbrella insurance in this state.  Do you guys know what companies sell umbrella insurance unattached?  It seems like it's harder to get that way, cause some (most?) places require you to also have auto through them for some reason.  I don't want to switch though.

Most companies should offer it standalone as long as you have 250/500 liability on your auto. However it will be more expensive standalone due to how it could interact with your auto carrier in terms of primary vs secondary coverage.

What he said. I have four properties, a car and an umbrella policy. Because of the umbrella policy, I am stuck with a limited array of companies to choose from. Most places want you to have all the policies with them, or at least higher coverage on your car and home if you insure elsewhere.

When you have rental property, it's even worse. Add to that the need to find an affordable earthquake policy, and you can understand why it's a day long endeavor getting quotes to compare when shopping for insurance every year or so to make sure I'm getting the best deal.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
