Have you installed your own fence?
« on: February 01, 2018, 10:06:21 AM »
Looking for some advice on installing your own fence.  Despite my DH's best efforts to keep nailing the thing back together and propping it up, our fence is done.  I am hoping to replace it as inexpensively as possible (but would still like to get wood!)

Is there a good pre-fab that you can buy, and if so, where?  How hard is it to DIY to install?

Any vendors to stay away from?

Thanks!

Ha, posting to follow.  My fence is 75% wood screws at this point. :)

At the ripe old age of 14, I decided that I was old enough and man enough to go out on a two day drinking binge/party at a friend's house whose parents were on vacation.  When I came stumbling home at the end of the second day, my parents had completely different views on the situation than I did.  After a rather unpleasant night of heated discussion about it, I flopped down in bed.  I woke up the next morning to a stack of fence planks, string, plumb bob, and a box of nails.  My dad sat there and watched me for the next day and a half rebuilding the fence by hand.

I learned two things:
1.  14 isn't adult enough for that crap
2.  Fences are not hard to build, even hung over 14 year olds can do it
