I dropped my two month old MotoX second gen today and shattered the screen. Idiot. I was googling for an idea of the repair cost and came across a post about purchase protection offered through credit cards. I found that the citicard I purchased this with offers this benefit. Any item purchased less than 120 days ago with the card they will supposedly pay to have repaired or replaced up to $1,000. I'm hoping this is not too good to be true. Has anyone ever filed a claim through this benefit before? Didn't even realize I had it. I will begin a claim after Christmas but wanted to ask the question as well as spread the word about this benefit... Unless I'm the only one who didn't know this existed!

One time I left my iPad on a plane, went back 30 minutes later (on a layover) and it was gone.
Googling around about it, someone mentioned a credit card purchase protection, and sure enough, I had bought it about 2 mo before (it was in Jan, and I bought at Black Friday) and used my AmEx.
I didn't even know it was a thing, but I called AmEx, and they refunded the whole amount of the purchase, which was like $400ish?
Also since it was a Black Friday deal I had got a $100 gift card with it, so I told them that, and that I felt they should just refund the amount minus the 100 (300-ish), and the rep put that in the notes of the claim, but the whole thing was refunded, so I actually came out ahead $100 (and then bought one used on craigslist, so cost less again).
I had no idea about the feature. I've had to dispute a transaction I never received from eBay/PayPal with a credit card when paypal did nothing, but the "if it's lost or broken" claim I didn't realize, and was pretty excited when it was simple and easy. Go Amex!
So yeah, it works, and is awesome.

That's awesome. I just started the claim with citicard, they are sending me some forms to fill out. Sounds like they will cover it. It will be $139 to have the screen repaired through Motorola. What a great benefit I didn't know I had!
