Hello everyone,

I was really interested in the Republic wireless plan that MMM endorsed in this article:

I wanted to see if anyone here had tried it and what their experience was like. My contract with Verizon will thankfully expire in the next 6 months and I'd like to switch my plan to this one.

There was a thread on the subject by one time poster Timbshoo about three months ago that was fairly detailed, but I have a feeling you aren't going to entirely like what's said. I know a few others have mentioned using it, and seem satisfied, but as with all things I prefer to approach all recommendations and services holistically and look at both the good and bad.

I'd like to hear more recent reviews as well, but I have a feeling the core weakness of the service and its design will never truly disappear no matter how good the software and phones are that get thrown at it.

We have used Tmobile family plan for the last four years in southern CA and recently moved over to this MVNO a Tmobile partner since  Feb. Our wireless plan is now free which saving $100 a month. Take a look look at the website for more info,

I have RW and it works fine for my needs.  If you have similar needs, it may work for you.

I had Verizon but where we live the service is terribly spotty.  I took most of my calls on the front porch, which is less than ideal.  RW fixes that problem for me.  I can take a call on my couch.

Other than that, RW has all the drawbacks mentioned in the other thread.  I just don't happen to care about MMS and cell picture quality.  The biggest reason it works for me is that I now have service in lots of places I didn't have service before because of the VoIP setup.

The main reason I went with RW is that my company pays be $40 per month in lieu of a BlackBerry, so I make a few bucks a month and get free cell service this way.

Hope this helps.
