Title: Good quality men's big and tall t-shirts?
Post by: Morning Glory on April 23, 2018, 07:55:20 PM
Hi,
My husband has a ton of t-shirts of various brands but 90% of them seem to have holes.  Where can we find some good quality shirts that will last more than a few washes? He wears a 4XLT . It is not my washing method because they get washed in with everyone else's and hung up to dry, and nobody else gets holes. He thought it might be moths but why would they be bothering his clothes and not mine? If a different kind of shirt will last longer I might try to talk him into it.

My brother gets shirts from King Size Big and Tall.  He only orders the twill weave button up shirts because they wear very well.  I have no idea if their t-shirts are quality or not but it might be worth a try.

Normally, I recommend buying Gildan G640 white t-shirts. These are the sorts of t-shirts that get used for silk screening and the like, so they're a 4.5oz., 100% ringspun, pre-shrunk cotton. I've used these shirts as undershirts, and they wear like iron. Unfortunately, I'm at a loss on the sizing as they don't offer a 4XLT, only a 4XL, and I can't even find 4XL sizing measurements in any catalogues to see if you can fudge it. This said, I'm technically an XLT, and their XL has always been long enough to keep tucked. YMMV. Unfortunately, given the size in question, what normally costs under $3/shirt will run over $8. It's also worth noting that if he likes a "tighter" undershirt fit, buying the next size down sometimes works well... after all, they're cut as t-shirts, not undershirts, so they might be a bit baggy and the sleeves might be a hair too long with some short-sleeve shirts. Don't just do, though, check sizing.

If you want to explore the options, give Jiffy Shirts (https://www.jiffyshirts.com/gildan-G640.html?ac=White) a look (it's a direct link to the G640). They're the place I've bought from in the past, they have good prices, and decent customer support... but it's also been a while since I last bought any. I also looked to see if they even had 4XLT from any manufacturer, but they only listed 3XLT as their largest "tall" size.

My dad has ranged from a 2XLT to 3XLT and has had good luck with King Size t-shirts.  He also has done well with JCPenney and Kohl's, although I'm not sure if the latter 2 go up to 4XLT.

I'm going to throw in another recommendation for King Size shirts.  They have a lot of what seems to be good quality clothing, which can be hard to find in the larger sizes.

I buy my husband the Lands End Tall t-shirts with a 40% off coupon code. We've found they wear pretty well. You can usually find the 40% off with retailmenot.

I get all my Big and Tall clothing from JC Penney, and everything seems to be of high quality.
