Good place to buy nuts online?
« on: September 08, 2013, 05:02:02 AM »
I'm looking for a place to buy inexpensive nuts online.  Costco is hit or miss in terms of inventory and my local supermarkets are too pricey.

Any recommendations?

www.nuts.com

I order all my nuts, nut flours, and herbs/spices from them. Their quality is top notch. And shipping is usually 2 day for me.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to purchase cashews, macadamia nuts, and nutritional yeast...

Or try Country Life Natural Foods.  www.clnf.org.  Out of Michigan.  A tad less expensive than nuts.com for some things.  Excellent quality.

Thanks for the recommendations, all.

clnf has great prices on pine nuts - those things are so damn expensive but they really make a few of my recipes.

Just be sure to do your search for "online nuts" with SafeSearch on.

I use nuts.com too.  They've got super fast shipping, good products, and great customer service.  (Though I decided to try their tea one time and it's so-so.  Stick with the fruit and nuts if you're not up for some trial-and-error.)

Lol!  Reminds me of the time I searched for manholes (site design project) on google one time while at work.  Not good.

In all seriousnes, no need to buy online - just shop the store sales and stock up.  For example, for almonds - this week, go to your walgreens and they have BOGO 6 oz Blu diamond whole almonds for 5.99.  So $6 for 12 oz.  Works out to $8/lb - cheaper than all of the links above and no shipping, plus convenient small cans instead of a giant bag.  Or better yet, fit it into your Costco trip (or other club store) where they regularly sell 3lb bags for under $19 ($18.65 this week - so $6.22/lb).  Heck, even Amazon sells 10 lb bags for $60 shipped ($6/lb).  We don't have them around here, but I heard you can get below $5/lb for almonds at trader joe's and whole foods.

Sometimes cheaper doesn't always equal better though. I will pay a little more for freshness. That's why I like nuts.com. I can taste a difference in their products vs. grocery store stuff. Just my opinion.
