Thrift Store Quilt

Hi,
I am interested in buying a thrift store quilt. What do you all recommend as the best ways to clean it (I wish to avoid bedbugs, etc.). Thanks!

Burn it with fire, it's the only way to be sure.

I would take it to a laundromat (or use your own washer if it is large enough) and wash it well and then dry on high for at least 70 minutes if possible.

I've bought plenty of linens/blankets etc. at thrift stores and never had a problem. I always take them home in a plastic bag and then immediately wash/dry them before taking them into the house.

If heat is not an option, there are some techniques which use dry ice in an enclosed (but not completely sealed) container with the clothes/bedding. Dry ice removes the oxygen and suffocates bugs. But you should google more precise directions and safety precautions, and find a way to make sure the dry ice cannot touch the quilt just in case it damages the old fibers. I also don't know if it can kill all the eggs of bed bugs or cockroaches.
