Where to cheaply order dry beans online?
« on: June 15, 2020, 07:42:15 PM »
I've been buying dry legumes from Aldi and an Indian grocery store, because I'd assumed that was the cheapest source. After having a little trouble with those sources (I keep ending up with bitter pintos, and the Indian grocery has run out of chickpeas) I wanted to look into other options.

Does anyone know of a way to order grocery store quality (or slightly higher, ideally never bitter) beans at prices similar to or less than a normal grocery store? (I'm in the continental US) I've used up 8lbs of chickpeas in a reasonable amount of time before, so having to buy 10lbs at once probably isn't a problem for me.

I know these are well priced, although you'll have to see whether that is true for out of state orders shipping:

If you're on the west coast, look for Azure Standard. It's a bulk-buying co-op based in Oregon.

I would just go down to the local restaurant supply. You can get 10#, 25# or 50# for pretty cheap. I buy my beans from them and have never had a issue. We eat a ton of beans.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
