FSA useage for financed lasik
« on: January 06, 2017, 05:53:35 PM »
So question.

I know LASIK can be paid for with fsa funds. But I didn't put anything away into my fsa this year. If I were to finance the LASIK can I use fsa funds earmarked for next year to pay for the balance of the LASIK I financed.

Also does anyone know of any other loop holes that would allow me to do this besides waiting one more year?

FSA saves me ~40% in state federal and FICA.

Thoughts?

Your question is answered on pages 16-17 here:

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p969.pdf

FSA reimbursement goes by the date of service.  The only leeway they give (if your plan is written that way) is on the tail end and reimbursement on expenses from the current year.  So that's not the solution.

Sorry, I don't have an option to suggest.
