Frugal Cell phones?
« on: March 20, 2015, 11:22:44 PM »
For the first time, I dropped my cell phone and it was damaged.  Screen cracked and touch completely unresponsive.  (Nexus4 Unlocked)  Fixing the screen seems questionable since its a 2+ year old phone.

What are Frugal Long Battery life feature phones and value unlocked value smartphone options?
I value good battery life and fairly current Android updates.  No gaming, GPS, enrypted phone/textsecure, occational fitness/timer app.  Light smartphone user.
I am planning on switching to TING (GSM or CDMA).  I see many BLU phones on newegg/amazon but unsure and want a reliable phone that will last.  I may get one feature phone and later a smartphone depending on the options.  The new Nexus 6 is $649+ which is certifiably crazy :)

Any suggestions?

If you like the Ting pricing model, GoUSMobile.com is a new MVNO with the same model but lower prices.  They're using T-Mobile's network, so it will work with any unlocked GSM (or T-Mobile locked) phone.

As for a good low-cost phone, take a look at the Motorola Moto G (2nd Generation) for $179.

Moto E or G if you want a smartphone, a cheap Nokia is more frugal though :)
