Freezing Credit - Innovis
« on: April 29, 2015, 08:42:58 AM »
I've frozen my credit on the big three credit bureaus but dont know if I should freeze Innovis (or need to).

I know its only $10 (in my state) to freeze and I should probably just do it, but is it necessary? Could somebody please explain?

Also, there are many minor credit bureaus, where does the freezing stop!?

Thanks!

I think no one answered your question because it's so completely out of context...
Why are you freezing your credit report? What's the point of it?

My husband and I have had a freeze with the big 3 bureaus for more than 5 years. It seems to me that credit card companies and govt agencies mainly use Experian and Transunion to check credit. The Social Security Administration couldn't even check mine for verification purposes so I know it works. However I've heard some disturbing figures about how often new credit card accounts are authorized without credit checks. So it's reasonable to assume I'm not immune to identity theft if someone gets hold of my SSN. Rather than getting a freeze with additional bureaus I prefer keeping close tabs on my accounts and doing free quarterly checks of my credit reports.
