My husband, my two year old and myself, are going to NYC for the 22nd-25th of Dec. We have free accommodations (thank you travel hacking) with a free breakfast. But I wanted to find other fun, yet frugal things including some meals to do. Any ideas?

Staten Island ferry is free
Central Park Zoo is great (but it isn't free)
Check out Time Out NY before you go - they have lists of things to do

Wander/play in the grass in Central Park.
Visit any of the great playgrounds. Don't know where you are staying, but they are all over Manhattan and typically have areas for very little kids.
