Title: Flightcar?
Post by: julez916 on July 06, 2015, 11:23:10 AM
I just did a quick search of the forums but only found one mention of flightcar. I've spoken to one person who had a really positive experience, but I still can't just trust it. Seems a little sketchy to me. So I'm throwing it out to all of you. Have any of you every rented your car through flightcar? How was your experience? Would you do it again/was it worth it?

My brother in law rents a few cars full time through Flightcar. His experience has been good so far and he's planning on extending his fleet. His break-even period (absent any major maintenance) is between 1 and 2 years with the purchase of a decently priced recent model car. So far his income has been relatively steady. After talking with him, it looks to me that the biggest risk is the chance of a major maintenance issue (Flightcar pays routine maintenance but not major repairs).

I'd love to hear more from people who have had direct experience.

Interesting. Our car is fairly mustachian-- a paid off 2007 mazda3 with under 100,000 miles, so I kind of feel like the financial risk we'd be taking by testing it out is lower than the risk for most people I've seen talking shit about it. Thanks for your input. I'd love to hear what others have to say about it too.
