Title: fixing chipped porcelain tub
Post by: frompa on June 21, 2014, 06:08:51 PM
Hey all, any of you ever fix a chip in your tub porcelain?  Today I noticed we have a oblong chip right underneath where the water pours out of the spigot, probably half in wide and an inch long.  Any help, I would appreciate.  Thanks -

That's a pretty large chip.  There are DIY kits for touching up small chips, basically paint, that might help.  But you'll always notice it.  It won't be permanent, you'll probably have to redo it every few years.

There are also professional tub refinishers who may may be able to do a better job, but may also recommend coating the entire thing.

I think you're going to want a pro to do that especially of it's porcelain. Maybe you could take a shot at it if it was fiberglass but I think it will be hard to even get it close and smooth.
