Soooo I have slowly but surely been making investments after much research through fund supermarkets which I dont like to check to often though when I do I would like to try to track them through a google account as this strikes me as much simpler and is not 'directly' linked (read only or otherwise) to any accounts I have. One of the main issues is that whilst I live in the UK and there are Quicken like aggregator services here (moneydashboard) I would like keep it simple by using google finance. The stumbling block I have been running into is that google finances names and the quoted fund code for the fund I have purchased into seem to either not match up or are not added to google finance. For instance the vanguard ftse equity index fund has several codes CITI:FPC6, FPC5, ISIN: GB00B59H6H54, GB00B59G4893, MexID:VVFUKE, VVUKEQ, Sedol:B59H6H5, B59G489 (I am new to 'codes' like those and presume they are financial advisor and stock broker codes). Then when you search for you fund in google finance it could be: VUKE or Vanguard FTSE U.K. Equity Income Index Acc and whilst on some of the codes are directly matched like VUSA the above on and less popular funds dont appear to be, or have I made a rookie error here?
The problem is how do I tell which one is the correct one with out double and triple checking the values of each of the many funds I have and intend to place money in with out spending to much time doing it? is there a better free alternative that I would have over looked?
