Title: Fidelity vs Vanguard
Post by: Trying2bFrugal on May 15, 2018, 02:19:28 PM
I started my employer 401k in Transamerica and investing in vanguard index funds.

I opened a fidelity traditional ira account (based on a friends advise) and funded 5500 for 2017 but not invested in any as I wasn't sure if I would take the money out for Down payment for our first home.

Now, I think I will be managing without that fund. So I want it to be invested. Fidelity brings me a lot of options but when i select  'No Transaction fee only' fund, vanguard wont show and vanguard has $75 fee. At the same time Fidelity Total Index is showing as no transaction fee.

Since both of these are same, should I just go with Fidelity? Or is there a better fund to choose? I am totally blank when it comes to investing and this is kind of first long time investment thing I am doing.

How do you gain wisdom on these? Should I be waiting for a little dip in market? It looks like its zapping last two years continuosly.

Basically the same thing.

Here is some good reading to start on stocks, especially regarding waiting for dips (don't):
