Fidelity? Schwab? UBS? Someone else?
« on: December 17, 2015, 07:08:41 AM »
Without explaining too much, we have to move my husband's company stock from the current company (Wells Fargo) to some other broker.  If we do nothing, it will automatically be moved to Fidelity.  I'm wondering whether y'all have a suggestion of whether we should be fine with this move or whether it would make sense to choose some other broker, based on your experience.  I know there are people here with MUCH more knowledge of brokers than I have.  I'm doing research on the web but I'm sure you'll have better suggestions than what I can find.

Fidelity or Schwab aren't bad. UBS is horrible (personal experience).

Any reason you can't do Vanguard? I personally like Fidelity but Vanguard is the gold standard around here.

No, no reason at all.  I just didn't want to load the dice! :)

Fidelity is the only alternative to vanguard I would consider for our normal mutual fund investing (I have a solo 401k there), but since you're holding company stock I suppose you should look at trading commissions.

I have both Vanguard and Fidelity accounts and find them to be mostly equivalent.

We have stuff with Fidelity, Vanguard and TIAA-CREF.  They're all fine, but I like Vanguard the best.

I find Schwab's ETFs to be excellent, so if you're selling company stock ASAP and moving to index investing that would be my choice.
