Recommendations for a will kit?

My wife and I need to update our will.  Actually it is more than an update needed but a whole new one as it is quite dated.  I have looked at the recommendations of some of the gurus out there but never talked to anyone who has used one.  We have four adult kids, a bit over $1 million in assets.  Nothing overly complicated but not insignificant either.

Any recommendations or thoughts?

Nolo Press in Berkeley, CA used to put out a great book. I checked it out from the library and then bought my own copy to create a will. Absolutely worth it if your estate is fairly simple.

Update: A quick Goog search shows it's easier than ever. Also, got a 40% off thru August 31st pop-up when I landed on the page. If it's as good as everything else they do, it should be first-rate for a reasonable price.

I used Legalzoom it was not expensive and easy although I have no dependents to worry about so I'm not overly concerned about my assets when I'm gone just want to avoid probate

My wife and I need to set ours up, so I'm curious about recommendations. Again, it's a pretty simple situation as far as assets goes, so I doubt I need a professional.

As far as I understand, the quicken product and Legalzoom are the two main DIY routes.

I've been reading Beyond the Grave written by an estate attorney about all the ways he's seen inheritances go right and wrong. It has been useful for deciding what to put in my own will.

My wife and I completed our wills, power of attorney, living wills through her uncle, who is a lawyer and does them for a living (and did ours for free).  I was surprised at how pretty much the googling of will contracts were the same as what he provided us.  I also expected there to be some notation on the will saying, "this is provided by lawyer joe smith, contact if needed" but his law firm isn't mentioned anywhere on it.  So I've been telling people to basically google wills and living wills, fill it out, and they can compare it to what we have if they are in a similar situation (like most people).  In the Philly area of PA, you can get anything notorized for free by going to any public officials office.  We've gone to I think our congressmans and state senators office and they do it.

We used an Attorney and it cost about $250.00  and will hold up.  My own opinion is that a Will is not a DIY.  I have seen far too many circumstances that did not go well because the individual did not plan appropriately or have an adequate will, living will, etc...  In my opinion it's worth the money to sit down with a professional and make sure that you got it the way you really want it.

Quicken Willmaker. They're partnered with NOLO and show some of their content and explanations. It spits out the will itself plus letters of instructions for your executor and alternate executors. It also comes with health directive and a number of other helpful documents you may want to generate.
