EXEDY clutch kits for Toyota... Like em?
« on: March 08, 2019, 02:36:06 PM »
I know this is kinda a far out question, but for you DIY car repair folks, I thought I'd ask.  I have never installed this brand before, but since it is Japanese OEM for many companies (Honda for one), I think it sounds like a nice option over Aisin (Toyota OEM) because of a bit different build spec.  Vehicle is a base 06 Matrix/Corolla, 1.8L, 1ZZ-FE engine and the same kit is used in many years/applications.

Aisin uses rubber dampners for the clutch disk that while smooth, offers a very numb feel, and numb, vague bite point.  The EXEDY OEM replacement uses conventional steel springs that I have always used, and are reported to have a much nicer feel, and bite point over stock.  Again, this is a basic OEM replacement, not racing.  All parts in the kit aside from the throw-out bearing are made in Japan, which I like too.  So, can anyone shed some experience concerning this particular application at best, or any experience with EXEDY?  Thanks.

No experience, but made in Japan generally means decent quality. Assuming it's a step up from O'Reilly's store-brand parts, it's likely to work out fine.
