Hello everyone,
My wife and I think it's time we invest in an umbrella excess liability insurance policy. Between us, we have 3 LLCs for various ventures we are involved in and our personal assets have grown sufficiently that we'd like to look into coverage. For those that have gone down this road, I would appreciate your perspective on:
- Did you go through an insurance broker or check with different providers individually?
- What provider did you eventually end up choosing? What was the reason? i.e. cost, better range of coverage, less exclusions, etc.
- How much did the policy end costing and what was the policy amount? i.e. 400/year for $1M
- Do you have any advice for me as we start to look into policies and providers?
- Have you had any positive or negative experiences with MetLife? They are a "preferred provider" through work who offers this coverage, so I could use that as a starting point if the feedback is generally positive
Thank you for your assistance!

Amica 5mm, 3 drivers,3 properties $278, cheapest . required auto was $300 more than cheapest alternative for same limits(500k/1m/100k) so total cost closer to $600yr
