For the website version:

When you post, click on the "Attachments and other options" just below the text box.  Then click Choose File under "Attach".

Not sure if / how this is done in the app.

I believe most people use google sheets and then just put in the link to the sheet.

So you can put a link in a google doc, and it would send you to the excel spreadsheet?

when you attach it to an email it gives an option to open as google doc.

Email the spreadsheet to yourself with gmail and then click on the pencil to open it with google sheets.

I don't want to open in google sheets though. I want people to look at it in excel, because I don't think the conditional formatting rules are the same, if they have them. OK, I think I understand. I'm looking for help with the excel spreadsheet rules. Converting to google sheets wouldn't help me, right?

Your OP said you wanted to attach an excel sheet. Save it in whatever format you need (seemingly excel), then attach it to whatever medium you're using. In the forums it's under the text box as "Attachments and other options" email utilizes paperclip icons.

That makes more sense, what's the question? Click on the plus sign next to "Attachments and other options" and then click on "Browse..." and find your excel sheet, it will automatically show up under your post.

Guys, before you start posting Microsoft documents, make sure you scrub their metadata (unless you don't are about anonymity

edit: here, read this for details on how to do it:
