Ebay phone, unknown imei
« on: December 20, 2017, 06:11:08 PM »
Has anybody every bought a "refurbished" phone off ebay without knowing the imei?  Specifically this phone: https://www.ebay.com/itm/272985671255?ul_noapp=true

The seller is unwilling to provide imei numbers for their 2 auctions I am looking at.  Seller has good feedback, I have no reason to suspect issue, I just thought it was common practice to check imei numbers when buying used phones.

I have sold several used iPhones on eBay and never provide the IMEI because I heard they can be ripped off?   I'm just a casual seller and I always say "clean IMEI" in my listing so the buyer feels confident that they could get buyer protection for false advertising if the phone wasn't clean.  There are some threads on eBay from a seller perspective about numbers or phones being cloned with the IMEI so I think sellers are usually reluctant to provide it in advance of the sale.

*shrug*  It's eBay.  The buyer is right.  Even if the buyer is a drooling moron who didn't read the auction listing, condition, or anything else, the buyer is always right.

If it's blacklisted, just complain, eBay will refund your money regardless of what the seller says or does.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
