Easy way to liquidate used books for cash?
« on: January 02, 2019, 12:41:36 PM »
We've got gobs of recent release(1-5 years) books, hard and soft cover.  Is there an easy way to liquidate these for quick cash? Even a buck or two each would be better than dropping them off at the thrift store.

Half Price Books will probably give you a buck or two each if you have one nearby.  They were decent when I dropped off a bunch of books/CDs/DVDs a few years back.

This is the route I took.  Some books were worth a decent amount, some zero.  I just accepted the total and left.  This is likely the fastest, but not the optimal.

In the past I would have recommended selling on Amazon's Seller Marketplace, which I have done for years.  I no longer recommend it for most books, as the economics of it just don't work out for the casual seller (with some exceptions).

I second Half Price Books, and have sold a lot there in the past.  They aren't around in my current locale, but I've had luck with locally-owned bookstores (if you can find them).

Half price books is excellent. A buck or two is asking a lot though, I rarely average that high.

My HPB is Iowa pays more than my parent's in Texas.

Thanks!  No HPB close by.  Any other options?

Perhaps try a local, non-chain bookstore and see if they would buy any for their stock? Otherwise, you could eBay them. Or list on Facebook Marketplace as a giant lot.
