Title: Easy and cheap ideas for snacks for a group of 5-6 adults
Post by: umasubra on August 02, 2017, 01:39:11 PM
Hi,

My husband meets with his study group a couple of times a week after work to do his school home work, outside of home, in a common place. And every time this happens, he ends up doing a take out for dinner from a nearby restaurant and then if they end up working too long, he also the first to buy additional snacks, etc. from nearby restaurants for everyone (5-6 adults). He tells me sometimes others buy too, but I'm seeing too many expenses on our CC. I'm new to MMM, and trying to see what I can do to reduce this spending. I'm thinking of sending him with some snacks from home for everyone. Any ideas for economical, homemade or store-bought snacks please? I'll have to send it with him in the morning, so cannot get spoilt.

Thanks!

Can't go wrong with popcorn. You could make different batches. Kettle corn is my kids' favorite, but I'm partial to a savory soy sauce/nutritional yeast kind. You could drizzle caramel or chocolate, add peanuts in clusters. Parmesan is good. Or a spicy lime/cumin savory kind. Good luck!

I'm a big fan of almonds.  I prefer unroasted, unsalted.  I also really like trailmix.  I try to keep the sugar and salt down, so I'll do things like cheerios, wasabe peas / nuts, rice crackers, etc.  If sugar isn't a concern, you can't go wrong with peanut m&m's, ginger, dried fruit, etc.

It's a study group.  Ask everyone to contribute $5 or $10 for the snacks before an order is placed?

Bring cookies, cheese and crackers, home made coffee cake (basic), big bag of no name pretzels, etc.
