DVR For OTA TV
« on: September 06, 2015, 04:07:53 PM »
Hello,

I dropped cable about 6 months ago, and have been searching for a DVR to record OTA TV shows. The ones I read about require a monthly fee or are very expensive ($200 - $300).  Has anyone made a DVR or know of a cheap one that does not require a monthly fee?  I found very little info on DIY DVRs and ones without a fee.

Thanks in advance!

A few years ago I used a PCI-express capture card in my PC and recorded shows using Windows Media Center.  It worked way better than I expected.

The one I was using was similar to this (same brand, similar cost): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116028

Thanks Ketchup.  I'll check it out.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
