Durban, South Africa Recommendations
« on: October 25, 2018, 08:42:20 AM »
I will be in Durban, SA for the last week of November. Planning to stay Saturday and Sunday nights in Umhlanga Rocks and Monday-Thursday at the Hilton in Durban (using points, of course). I could change both reservations to maximize time in one location, just need to be at the airport Thursday morning.

So far I want to do the following:
1) chill on the beach in Umhlanga as the preceding week will be busy
2) Kwazulu-Natal Sharks Board, Umhlanga
3) Durban Botanic Garden
4) Take the Shark Net Boat tour https://www.shark.co.za/Pages/AttractionsAndBooking-BoatTours
5) uShaka Marine World

Do any fellow travelers have other suggestions? I am not an adrenaline junky, so shark cage diving and ziplining over the stadium are out!

You might want to check out Getaway Magazine.  It will have a lot of articles on things to do in Durban.  It has an online presence as well.

If you have never done a traditional Big Five safari, I would urge you to consider taking a few days and flying from Durban to a game park for a few days.

Thanks! Safari is what I'm doing the preceding week :)

Don't forget to try bunny chow while you're in Durban!

I'll definitely look for good Indian food. I must admit, when I first read about bunny chow I thought is was made from rabbit! I'm vegetarian so I was much relieved to find it has completely different meaning.
