Does my 2005 Honda Accord need a valve inspection?
« on: April 13, 2017, 05:19:15 PM »
I have a 2005 Honda Accord 4 cylinder with 120,000 miles.  I checked the maintenance schedule and saw that it was overdue for a valve inspection.   I called the repair place I've been using since my beloved mechanic retired two years ago.  The guy I spoke with asked me if I'd noticed my engine sounding different or my car driving different.  When I said no, he said, "That would cost $300.  If you aren't having any trouble, I wouldn't get it done."  Is he right?  Or should I get it inspected?

I've driven dohc setups like that for twenty years. I adjusted the valves on only one car....And the dealer mechanic screwed it up. It ran like crap had to be redone by a different guy.

I will never touch them again. I do replace timing belts as applicable.
