Does anyone use FreeTaxUSA to do tax return?
« on: February 06, 2017, 09:00:04 AM »
Hi gang,

I used to use TaxAct but their pricing is creeping up.

For me to do my Federal and 1 State Return with TaxAct would run me around $60.

In the comment section of another blog, someone recommended:

https://www.freetaxusa.com/software.jsp which would cost me a total of $12.95.

Anyone have any experience with FreeTaxUSA??

Thanks!!

I haven't filed yet, but I'm using FreeTaxUSA and so far I am finding it easier to use than TT, and I'm getting the same final numbers. I will keep working in parallel until I get my last 1099-B. That form proved to be the challenge last year. If FreeTaxUSA doesn't choke on the big 1099-B, I will use it to file.

My GF used FreeTaxUSA last year (for 2015 taxes) and found it pretty easy to use.  Her income is entirely Schedule C.

I have used FreeTaxUSA for the last few years. No state income tax for me so pretty easy.

I think I will do my return via both and if numbers match will use FreeTaxUSA to file.
