Does anyone else use their clown car to MAKE money?

Around these forums, I often feel like the outlier because I don't bike/walk to work. I have always had jobs that require use of my own vehicle throughout the work day. I currently work for an employer who pays 57.5 cents per mile and I'm driving a ton. But my little 2004 Corolla gets me where I need to go and I get about 35mpg. I'm pretty sure I'm making money on this venture, as this month's mileage check has already exceeded $800. I now have access to company vehicles if I don't want to put miles on my car, but at 228k miles, I'm not too concerned. I'm hoping to break 300k miles on this car, then think about replacing it with something a bit newer.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I get 52 cents/km and free fuel (electricity). I haven't really calculated depriciation and increased insurance costs, so I don't know if the net is positive or negative.

Not as clearly as you do (I don't get reimbursed), but my 13-year-old CRV gets me back and forth to work, about 35 miles each way, and never complains about it.

For time and safety reasons, biking would never work.

I don't 'make' money but no way could I live on the ranch in a rural area without a truck: I haul hay, firewood, big 800lb lots of animal feed....not happening on a bike.

Truck is a tool, not ego enhancement, at my house.

Yes.  I drive it to work when I can't bike.

I can't do my job without a vehicle. They aren't going to let me take 2 hours biking down to Norman to do a site visit.

I also use the vehicle for my side gig. When I have a wedding mass on one side of town followed 30 minutes later by a reception on the other, it's just how it's gonna be.
