So, I didn't pay my credit card bill. I looked through my bills -- don't have one for last month, but no one's going to believe that, so no point in expanding upon that topic. Did it go to my neighbor's house? Did I throw it away by mistake? I don't know, but the beginning, middle and end of the story is that I didn't pay it.
For my sins, I have been charged a "late fee" of $25 and something like $1.37 in interest. Obviously, it was a small bill, and it's the late fee that stings.
I was whining to a frugal friend at work, and she told me she does something I found unusual: She pays her bills with online banking (don't we all?), and she sets her account to AUTOMATICALLY pay $100 to her credit card on a certain day of the month . . . the idea being that if for some reason she didn't pay her bill, she wouldn't be stuck like I am right now . . . but she can always go in and adjust the amount up or down. Even if I overpaid, it would just be "a credit" for the future.
Do y'all see any potential downfalls to this method?
