Did anyone get your stimulus payment yet?
« on: April 09, 2020, 10:08:33 AM »
The first round of direct deposits are supposed to go out today. Has anyone seen it yet?

Since i never loan the IRS money each year at 0% interest, my 1040s dont have any direct deposit bank info on them. As such, I will probably not receive funds until August or Sept.

I could be wrong as I don't remember where I saw it, but I think I read that they're starting with people who have the lowest AGI, which makes sense. As such, this forum will probably get their deposits on the later end for the most part.

That is for the paper checks.  Direct deposits are supposed to all arrive at once sometime this month.

Good for you.  Although I'm not sure how the information is sent and whether the IRS keeps it on file, I do know that it is possible to efile and direct debit for those who have a balance due.  In those scenarios, the bank routing and account information is provided so the IRS can do an ACH debit.  Hopefully those in that situation can still get the direct deposit.

Also, there is still talk about a portal on the IRS website where those due to receive checks can provide banking account information and get the direct deposit rather than waiting.  For those interested in this option I would keep an eye on irs.gov/coronavirus for updates.

Could be, although I though what I had seen indicated that the ACH system would have a hard time processing that volume at all once. Could have just been someone's uninformed opinion on a forum or something though, since like I said, I don't remember where I saw it.

Did not receive ours yet, although could later today. I guess we'd be a prime candidate for a first wave - already filed 2020 return with ACH info and have a lower AGI (~$55k).

Everything I've read says that the could start today or next week. I'm guessing it will be next based on what I've read. I haven't seen anything that says they are definitely going out today.

I do think that the going by lowest AGI first is referring to the paper checks. Those are the people that are less likely to have bank accounts. So it makes sense to go in order of AGI so that the people most in need get the money sooner.

I read an article somewhere that mentioned the IRS was setting up a website to input address/direct deposit info. Can't confirm. But go to IRS.gov and poke around?

If you did not provide your bank account information (either because you were getting a refund and wanted a paper check instead of direct deposit, or you didn't do direct debit through your e-file tax program), then they will mail a paper check.

If they have your 2019 taxes on hand, they will mail a paper check to the address on your 2019 return.  Then, within 15 days of mailing you that paper check, they will mail a separate notice to you about the check.

If I were in that situation, I would make very sure that I had my address forwarded with the US Post Office.  The check (and the notice afterwards) should then be forwarded to your new address.

File Form 8822 with the IRS if you've moved since your last return.

I just filed 2019 taxes a few days ago. I had been putting it off because I owed money. Hopefully I got it in with enough time so that I don't have to wait for a check. My 2018 taxes have a closed bank account.

Low(er) for this forum maybe, but definitely not low enough to receive a check in the first wave imho - there are waaayyy too many people not even breaking $30K.

I expect mine to take a while. SS recipients aren't exactly on the top of the list. I'm surprised the dems managed to get us included at all.
Regardless - not counting my chickens before they hatch - the govt is entirely capable of making last minute adjustments like they just did to make it harder for gig workers to receive unemployment (if at all) and I believe there was some tweaking for college students.

I suspect Mr. R. will be in the same IRS batch as you chemistk - with luck in the third wave:), but I wouldn't bet on it.

I don't see anywhere that it mentions it will be sent out to those with lower AGI first.

Everything I've seen states that by Wednesday it should go out to all who filed 2018 and 2019 taxes electronically and provided their bank information.

Low AGI first is for the paper checks. My AGI was approx $100k and I already got my direct deposit, on Friday evening.

Mine was less than that and I haven't received it yet. Not sure how they are prioritizing those with banking info on file.

Has anyone who has received it had it cleared, or does it say pending? I'm kind of wondering if the discrepancy between who's gotten and and who hasn't might just come down to whether your bank shows pending direct deposits?

My credit union always shows pending deposits several days in advance. We have direct deposit for 2019 taxes and our bank shows nothing yet, though we should be eligible for the full amount. So that doesn't seem to be the reason for the discrepancy.

I have a bit of a particular question:

In both 2018 and 2019 tax returns, I received a small refund.  In 2018. I inputted direct desposit info.  Just recently for the 2019 return, I accidentally submitted it before inputting DD info and received a traditional refund check.

Will the IRS use my 2018 DD info and direct deposit it, or does the lack of info on my 2019 return supersede it, leaving me waiting for a check.

What do you all think?

The way the law is written, I think they could issue you a direct deposit based on your 2019 AGI into your 2018 bank account.  They certainly could code it that way and in my non-professional opinion think they will try to do so, but I don't think there is any definitive answer.

You should know by this Thursday.  Check your 2018 bank account and see if the money shows up there.  If not, the IRS website will have a "Where's my payment" feature up and running soon (later this week I think they said).

Ours posted today - TD Bank.

FWIW we have not yet filed our 2019 taxes either (delayed) but had an AGI under $30k last year (and will likely be under $50k for 2019).

There today for us. Netteller super slow - our local bank uses them for online banking. I imagine the news that tens of millions of payments went out is leading to massive increases in traffic.

Mine is showing as pending this morning. We filed 2019 taxes in early February and got a small ($400) refund via direct deposit. We are on the high end of those receiving it (AGI of $130k married joint). It hit right alongside Mr E’s disability payment from Social Security.

$3,900 pending!

We have $3,400 pending as of today.  We didn't get 2019 taxes in yet, so baby born in 2019 wasn't given a stimulus payment.  I don't know yet if there is a way to get the additional $500.

At the very least you'll get a $500 credit at tax time in 2021 (2020 taxes) if your income continues to be under the limit. If not, congratulations on the raise!
