Title: Deciding between two jobs at same company
Post by: EJ on May 14, 2013, 09:57:35 PM
I've been in current role for 6 months. 20 miles from home. Travel internationally fairly frequently (30%). Two small kids and stay at home wife.

Was offered another job (similar role) at location 6 miles from home with no travel.

Pros. New job would have no travel and is close to home.
Cons. New job may not have same progression track. Been in current role a short time.

Ive been going back and forth and cannot decide. Can the mustachian community help me decide?

How important is time with your family.

Is job progression required to reach FI?

I think you hit the nail on the head mate. Those are two powerful questions.

Family time is uber important and I make enough (130k$) such that it won't preclude me from FI.  Didn't want to be short sighted and take the job for the wrong reasons - but what better reason than spending more time with your family??

Thanks for the enlightenment.
