I think it helps when you visualize the actual 2- $100 bills it takes to buy the ring instead of it being bought with a card whether debit or credit.
Maybe pull the $200 out of the bank when tempted to know that it will be used to spend on the ring you may be less inclined to spend the money when you hold it in your hand.
When the urge passes you put the money back in the bank.
Set a budget for your "allowance" and make a goal to buy the ring in say a year, put your monthly allowance in an envelope along with a note stating what it's to be used for. See if when you revisit your dream ring  you still want it after saving that long.
