I just realized that with a delivery coming up I have about a $3k bill to pay soon. I'm trying to figure out if there is a good credit card to apply to for a decent reward, since that is often the minimum spend. Or we can split it among cards.
Looking for no fee/fee waived first year.
We both currently have the blue cash everyday amex and chase freedom, and are not eligible for American airlines. I think neither of us is eligible for Delta. (United has a high fee and we have no other airlines here.). I don't think Amazon offers rewards, but we both have those. I have the aarp card. DH does not.

I agree that Chase Sapphire Preferred would be a good card to get (points can also be transferred to United).
I'm not sure I understand you comment about United cc having a high fee. The current public offer is a card with a 50,000 point bonus (plus free luggage and 2 lounge passes) and $95 annual fee. Maybe you were looking at one of their premium cards..or maybe we just have a different definition of what a high fee is. ;-)

Unlike Delta and American, United doesn't waive their fee in the first year. That bothers me.
I'll check out the chase card. We'd have a bit more spending to do, but not much.

Another good one is the Barclays Arrival+ which will give you $500 toward any travel expense (hotel, airfare, train, car rental) after spending $3,000 in 3 months. No annual fee first year.

Another vote for Chase Sapphire Preferred. Ultimate Rewards are GREAT.
And I agree with you about avoiding annual fees. My one exception is paying for a Southwest Personal and a Southwest Business (for one year -- $170 total) in order to get a companion pass. If Southwest is a good airline for you, that its totally worth it. We did that early last year and have had a companion pass since May 2016 (through Dec 2017). We'll do it again early next year.
