Combining Credit Card Air miles - what cards allow this?
« on: August 07, 2019, 11:08:15 PM »
Hi,

I'm trying to collect some airline miles for travel. What credit cards allow you to combine your miles with other cards?
Any advice here is appreciated.
Thanks!

Ultimate Rewards are very flexible.  You can combine between cards (within a family) and transfer to a bunch of different airline programs.

This is generally controlled by the airline - you can't combine miles from say, United and American into 1 pool of miles. If you went with what are called transferable miles, you can choose from Chase Ultimate Rewards points (main US transfer partners are United, Southwest & JetBlue), Citibank Thank You points (JetBlue), or American Express Membership Rewards points (Delta). People usually  pick Chase because of the increased options.

A different option is to get each of the airline's credit cards in turn to build up a stash, so you'd get the American Airlines MileUp card, then the Platinum card, then the Executive card, etc.

I highly recommend the blog https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/. The owner is very nice (and ethical, he only posts the best credit card deals instead of the ones that earn him the most commission), has good info for newbies, as well as a Facebook group called Frequent Miler Insiders.
