Cladding options for front of garage
« on: April 16, 2019, 09:21:13 AM »
I'm converting my one-car garage into living space and while most details are worked out, I'm a little stuck on siding options.  I am looking for a siding option that will be just for the front of the garage where the door was and the surrounding facade, not the whole house.

I have aluminum siding on the rest of the house and I plan on painting it either this year or the next.  I can't find the supplier for the original siding so I might as well go different enough it looks intentional.

FOr those that have done similar projects, what did you do for the space?

We used plywood and painted it a shade lighter than the house. We also added a small window on the one side of the door. Then a large planter under the window in a much darker colour.

Engineered wood is an option. You could pick a style/pattern that stands out and doesn't clash with the existing aluminum siding. It's not crazy expensive (unless you are comparing an uber-cheap route like painted plywood), and it lasts forever.
