Title: Cheaper car and homeowner's insurance
Post by: purple monkey on September 10, 2015, 08:50:08 AM
I have GEICO for cars and ASI via GEICO for home.

Anyone know of better deals.

I know that I am paying too much.

TIA.

I shop it annually.  I have an independent broker who shops multiple companies.  I use GEICO as a benchmark and I also shop it with Costco/Ameriprise.

This last time GEICO came in about $80 less... not enough to switch mid-stream but I will explore it again at year-end when my policies are up for renewal.

So my advice is to pick and independent broker, then a couple of other potential benchmarks and shop it.

Insurance costs vary wildly between people and carriers, but I have not been able to beat Progressive's rate in ten years (for car insurance).  My home insurance is with whatever was cheapest when I bought my house.
