Cheap place to buy LED bulbs online?
« on: August 10, 2014, 12:50:15 PM »
Anyone know of a cheap place to buy LED bulbs online?

Florida has no incentives... so the cheapest I can find is a pack of 3 from Costco for $6/bulb. Thanks :-)

So far Amazon was the cheapest place I have found them. There may be better places but always a good place to start.

Not necessarily the cheapest, but Home Depot sells the BEST (built) brand of led bulbs: CREE.

I replaced all the lights in my house (except for the big florescent tube bulbs in the kitchen) with Cree brand leds. Good bulbs, and I think they were worth the money.

Anyone have good references on best LED value (price/quality)?  I asked over in a Costco thread where like 4 people say they buy LED bulbs from costco, but nobody answered WRT what kind of research they did on the quality and price of those bulbs.  Obviously Costco is the easiest option for me in terms of returnability and ease of acquisition, but I love saving money too.

BTW this is what I've found here, but 1-3 years seems like an eternity in LED tech:

I also wonder if Costco unlimited warranty helps resolve IP Daley's issues w/ LED bulbs mentioned here:

Finally:  If I'm planning a solar installation in the near future, does this negate some of the LED power savings?  I guess I could determine how much it will cost to install a marginal solar panel that will give me the difference between LED power consumption and cheaper incandescent power consumption and compare with cost of bulbs

I have all LED bulbs and just got solar installed.  Since the AC, fridge, and dryer are the main energy hogs I wasn't worried about not still saving a ton by getting a system to net meter to a $0 bill.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
